Best Practice

As an open access journal, Molecules and Cells will follow the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing (https://doaj.org/bestpractice) developed by Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).

  • 1. Website
    The URL of official journal web site is https://www.molcells.org.
    The Mol. Cells team endeavors to make a good website. Mol. Cells website demonstrates that care has been taken to ensure high ethical and professional standards. It does not contain any misleading information, including any attempt to mimic another journal/publisher’s site.
  • 2. Name of Journal
    The official journal title is the Molecules and Cells (Mol. Cells) the abbreviation of ISO is Mol. Cells.
  • 3. Peer Review Process
    The Mol.Cells has on online submission and peer review system at https://www.editorialmanager.com/molcells/default.aspx.
    Acceptance of a manuscript in Molecules and Cells is determined through rigorous peer-reviewing process. After Editor-in-Chief and Executive editors assign an editor, the assigned editor send the manuscript to referees for peer-review. The assigned referees review the manuscript and their review results are reported to the Editor-in-Chief. Finally, Editor-in-Chief notify review results to the corresponding author(s).
    If there is any objection to the review results, corresponding author(s) can appeal within 60 days after being notified. Editor-in-Chief has the obligation to notify the results after one more review.

    Mol. Cells is an open access journal. Articles are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial License (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. To use the tables or figures of Mol. Cells in other journals, books or media for scholarly, educational purposes, the process of permission request to the publisher of Mol. Cells is not necessary. All contents of the journal are available immediately upon publication without embargo period.
  • 8. Author Fees
    Mol. Cells uses the Open Access publishing model in which all published articles are freely available to readers directly from the Journal's website. This publishing model, however, is based on author fees. The submissions of a manuscript and peer-review process are free of charge. The processing fee applies only to manuscripts accepted for publication.
  • 9. Process for Identification of and Dealing with Allegations of Research Misconduct
    The editorial board of Mol. Cells have carefully examined all submitted manuscripts whether these are abided by the ethical guidelines of the ICMJE and COPE. The published articles have involved the statements of conflict of interest, institutional review board, informed consent, and human/animal rights.
    When the Journal faces suspected cases of research and publication misconduct such as a redundant (duplicate) publication, plagiarism, fabricated data, changes in authorship, undisclosed conflicts of interest, an ethical problem discovered with the submitted manuscript, a reviewer who has appropriated an author’s idea or data, complaints against editors, and other issues, the resolving process will follow the flowchart provided by the COPE(http://publicationethics.org/resources/flowcharts). The editorial board of Mol. Cells will discuss the suspected cases and reach a decision. Mol. Cells will not hesitate to publish errata, corrigenda, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when needed.

    Mol. Cells is published Monthly a year.
  • 12. Access
    Mol. Cells is an open access journal. A free full-text service both in the XML and PDF formats is available immediately upon publication without embargo period.
  • 13. Archiving
    Full text of Mol. Cells has been archived in National Library of Korea (http://www.nl.go.kr). According to the deposit policy (self-archiving policy) of Sherpa/Romeo (http://www.sherpa.ac.uk), authors cannot archive pre-print (i.e., pre-refereeing), but they can archive post-print (i.e., final draft post-refereeing). Authors can archive publisher's version/PDF. Mol. Cells provides the electronic backup and preservation of access to the journal content in the event the journal is no longer published by archiving in National Library of Korea.
  • 14. Revenues Sources
    Revenue sources of journal are from the support of publisher (The Korean Society for Molecular and Cellular Biology) and advertising rates.
  • 15. Advertising
    Advertisements are reviewed in light of appropriate ethical considerations before being accepted for publication. The publication of advertisements relies on the responsibility of the advertiser to comply with all legal requirements relating to the marketing and sale of the products or services advertised. The publication of an advertisement neither constitutes nor implies a guarantee or endorsement, by Korean Society For Molecular And Cellular Biology of the product or service advertised, or the claims made for it by the advertiser. Korean Society For Molecular And Cellular Biology reserves the right to discontinue any advertisement it so wishes.
  • 16. Direct Marketing
    Journal propagation has been done through the journal web site and distribution of an introduction pamphlet. Invitations to submit a manuscript are usually focused on the presenters at conferences, seminars, or workshops if the topic is related to the journal's aims and scope.
